At Kensington Health Clinic, while we are firm believers that real charm is more than skin deep, we also appreciate the confidence boost that looking can produce. Thanks to the latest non-surgical cosmetic treatments, everyone should have the chance to look as good as they feel.
Lines, wrinkles and a loss of radiance are essentially linked to a multi factorial process of intrinsic aging and extrinsic aging. Intrinsic aging is the natural part of the ageing process where our skin produces less collagen (which provides skin firmness) in each year and as a result, the skin becomes thinner and more fragile. Extrinsic aging takes place in addition to intrinsic aging as a result of sun and environmental damage (exposure to pollution, tobacco use, etc.).
Keeping these risk factors in check, particularly exposure to UV light, can impede the first signs of ageing but nevertheless, it will not stop or reverse the aging process.
Anti-wrinkle injections are a popular for reducing wrinkles and rejuvenating the aging face. Small quantities of botulinum toxin (commonly known by brand name ‘B-Tox’) injected into the skin relaxes underlying muscles and as a result causes the skin to soften existing fixed lines and wrinkles and helps prevent static lines from becoming established.
All Kensington Health Clinic treatments follow a detailed pre-treatment consultation. Your consultation starts with a detailed recording of your medical history. Then your practitioner will discuss of the look you wish to achieve and conduct a careful examination of your face.
If you decide to proceed then the practitioner will cleanse the skin, apply anaesthetic and cold compression before the Botox injections are placed directly into the muscle areas which you have decided to have treated. The needle used is also extremely fine and most clients experience only minimal discomfort, if at all.
The Botox injections takes about 20 minutes. It is important to be aware that it takes between 5-7 days* for the treatment to work. You can carry on with your day as normal immediately after leaving the clinic, although it is important not to massage or rub the areas after treatment and avoid anything strenuous for 24 hours such as going to the gym. Following the treatment, there may be minimal redness and bruising is uncommon. Side effects of anti-wrinkle injections are rare. It is one of the safest non-surgical cosmetic procedures available. However, there is the possibility of the treatment being dispersed into an adjacent muscle which can cause a temporary weakness such as drooping of the upper eyelid. These effects are temporary, lasting a few weeks at most.*
