Tear Trough

Dark circles under your eyes, and bags under your eyes, can make your eyes look ‘sunken’ and give an impression of a weary, aged appearance. Eye hollows (known also commonly as tear trough) can arise from a young age, and are caused mainly by genetics, lack of sleep, stress and poor diet. Hollows under the eyes can give you a tired look even when you have had plenty of sleep.

A tear trough treatment is one of the most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatments which gives you an instant* and natural looking correction. It is an advanced treatment and needs to be done by an experienced specialist to minimize the risk of excessive bruising, lumpiness and other complications. The treatment is subtle and by simple correction to this area the overall appearance of the client is restored to their youthful and fresher self.

How a tear Trough Treatment is administered?

All Kensington Health Clinic treatments follow a detailed pre-treatment consultation. Your consultation starts with a detailed recording of your medical history. Then your practitioner will examine your medical history and advise whether a tear trough treatment is appropriate for you.

If you decide to proceed then the practitioner will apply a fast acting topical anaesthetic and then wait for it to take full effect. In addition to the topical anaesthetic, we also usually use a dermal filler which contains lidocaine which further reduces discomfort. The blunt cannulas will also be used for treatment as it is safer, less comfortable and cause less bruising than sharp needles.

We use Teosyal Redensity II as it is the ONLY aesthetic injectable in the UK licensed for treatment of tear troughs. The procedure usually takes about 30 minutes and the results are immediately* visible. Most patients continue with their normal day after treatment.

The treated area should be left alone for 48 hours to settle down. Immediately after treatment it is quite normal for there to be slight redness, swelling and tenderness around the treated area. Occasionally some bruising may occur around the treated area; this is usually short term and will subside within a few days.

Until the initial swelling or redness has resolved it is recommended that you do not use any make up for 12 hours following the treatment. It is also recommended not to use sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms, and avoid extreme temperatures.

We will arrange to see you for a review of your treatment two weeks later.
